Best Things to do in Singapore

First thing you need to do in Singapore: Visit the Jewel

As soon as you land in Singapore, you have to visit the Rain Vortex/Jewel at Changi airport. The jewel is the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. The waterfall is surrounded by lush vegetation and there are several levels where you can admire the Jewel from.

There are stairs leading to different levels, so it might be a bit difficult to make it there if you have a heavy luggage!

The best part is that you do not need a boarding ticket to visit the jewel, as you can come to visit it even if you do not have a flight. In the same time, the Jewel is not located directly in the airport, but it is connected with it through a suspended bridge.

Extra tip: One of the best view spot is at the 4th level!

a. When to visit: at any time, but keep in mind that even if the garden is opened non-stop, you might not see the Rain Vortex at nighttime.

b. The entrance is free

Admire Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

You cannot visit Singapore without admiring Marina Bay Sands. Landmark of the city, Marina Bay is a 55-storey towers with luxurious hotel rooms and suites.

Around Marina Bay you will have the world’s largest atrium casino, a theater, the ArtScience Museum two floating crystal pavilions, (the largest) Louis Vuitton boutique and Pangaea Club.

Inspired by card decks, the hotel has the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool. The Shoppes is the main shopping mall at Marina Bay Sands and it is connected with the crystal pavilions via an underwater tunnel.

One of the best things to do in Singapore: visit the Gardens by the Bay

A mesmerizing oasis in the heart of Singapore, the Gardens by the Bay are one of the city’s most iconic attractions.

Having over 250 acres, the Gardens by the Bay represent the commitment of the Country in regards to the environmental sustainability and urban planning. Opened in 2012, the gardens have quickly become a must-visit attraction for tourists and locals.

The crown jewels of the gardens are the two massive conservatories: the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest.

a. The Flower Dome

As you step into the Flower Dome, you’ll be transported to different corners of the globe with its themed gardens.

b. The Cloud Forest

Walking in the Cloud Forest feels like stepping into a lush and mystical rainforest, with a captivating indoor waterfall. Here, you will encounter diverse plant species, some of which are rarely found in other parts of the world.

Book your ticket to one of these conservatories right away by clicking here!

Find the Supertree Observatory at Garden By the Bay

Supertree Observatory at Gardens by the Bay

Probably the highlight of our trip to Singapore was the Supertree Grove – Gardens by the Bay.

You can visit the Supertrees by day as well as by night, fact that I do recommend because you get a different perspective over them.

By night, there is a magnificent free show with music and lights you don’t want to miss!

a. When to see the show: every day from 19:45 to 20:00 and from 20:45 to 21:00

b. The entrance is free.

The Supertree Observatory offers unparalleled views of Gardens by the Bay’s lush surrounds and the Marina Bay area. If you do not want to miss this experience, buy your online ticket from Klook.com, as they have the best deals! You can directly click here to purchase your ticket!

a. When to visit at daytime:

If you want to take the perfect shot, come around 7:15 – 7:30. By that time, you will only see runners and the staff cleaning the place.

Extra tip: The best spot for photos is from the balcony in front of the supertree Observatory. To make it there, you have to climb the stairs and then keep left as soon as you make it to the top. Find the balcony and your favorite spot!

b. The entrance is free.

However, if you want to see the view from the Gardens’ highest point, you need to purchase your ticket in advance!

Extra tip: in the Gardens by the Bay there is also free Wi-Fi and you will also find a small Starbucks shop opened at that time in the morning. Take some time to walk around the gardens because you will not regret it. Also, depending on the season you go there, consider taking an umbrella with you.

This leads me to the next important spot: Water Lily Pond

Must do in Singapore: Find the Water Lily Pond in the Gardens By the Bay

Probably one of the most dreamy and Instagrammable places in Singapore, the Water Lily Pond has a view over the Marina Bay.

a. When to visit: early in the morning before 08:00 AM because at that time it will not be that hot and there will not be too many people around

b. The entrance is free

Extra tip: There are some small rocks leading to a bigger one from where you can the perfect shot. In the same time, there is a bench where you can relax a bit and admire the view.

Cross the Double Helix Bridge

The bridge has a breathtaking viewpoint to the Singapore Skyline and other events taking place at Marina Bay. The bridge is illuminated by night so that the double-helix structure is highlighted. It also has mirroring materials creating a unique experience for the tourists.

a. When to visit: the best time to visit the Helix Bridge is for the sunset, but I also loved it by nighttime, after the sunset

b. The entrance is free

Walk on the Arab Street

I loved walking around the colorful houses and designs, so if you have some extra time, make sure not to miss this spot!

In the same time, the prices there will be a bit higher than in other areas of the city, so you may not want to have your breakfast/lunch/dinner there.

a. When to visit: Definitely the hustle and the bustle of the city makes the area more “alive”, so it is ideal to make it there during the day

b. It is completely free to walk around

Extra spot: Ya Kun Kaya Toast Marina Square

Do not leave Singapore without trying a traditional breakfast! For this, I recommend you to try a ya kun kaya toast. You can get a set for only 6 SGD with coffer or tea, two soft cooked eggs cracked in a bowl and mixed with soy sauce and white pepper and a kaya toast (2 slices of toast with butter and kaya (coconut jam).

Extra tip: arrange the trays back after eating because you might be penalized with a 300 SGD fine if you don’t do so!
